House Passes Marriage Protection Act
July 23, 2004 – In a 233-194 vote, the House of Representatives today voted to pass H.R. 3313, the Marriage Protection Act. Despite numerous speeches by liberals during the debate session, the House passed this bill to defend traditional marriage from being redefined by activist federal judges.

Another Bush Judicial Appointee Defeated By Liberal Senators
July 23, 2004 – William Myers, an excellent nominee for the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, was defeated by obstructionist Democrats on July 20, 2004. The nominee was opposed by People for the American Way for his commitment to judicial restraint and for his belief in protecting private property against radical environmentalist policies.

July 23, 2004 – Jim Greenwood (R-PA) is resigning from the U.S. Congress to become the president of the Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO). Greenwood was a pro-abortion and pro-embryonic stem cell research legislator who authored the "clone and kill" amendment during debates on the legalization human cloning during the last Congress.
