Sam Kimmel on Drunk with Power

George,

(Re:  Drunk with power http://www.jeffersonreview.com/articles/2004/071904/drunk.htm)

Please be aware that there are two types of Liquor licenses: a drink license for a bar; a restaurant license. Bar licenses are regulated as to proximity and are expensive, sometimes selling for thousands of dollars; Restaurant licenses are much cheaper, and available to anyone with seating for 100, and promising to sell more food than drink.

I am in disagreement with both and see no reason the sale of a legal product should be controlled. Since it is, those businesses are not in compliance.

My advice to them would be: Open for breakfast or lunch. They could promote a value packed menu and sell a lot of food during the day, offsetting their booze sales at night.

I enjoy your articles and the "Revue".
