"Live each day to the fullest.  Live each day with enthusiasm, optimism and hope.  If you do, I am convinced that your contribution to this wonderful experiment we call America will be profound."

--Ronald Reagan, 1992

Biting and Fathers       By Theresa Fritz Camoriano          A couple of weeks ago, as I was driving to meet with a client, I heard a portion of one of Francene’s talk radio shows, in which the topic was what parents should do about children who bite.  The main question was whether it was alright to bite the child back, to give him a “taste of his own medicine”, or whether that was child abuse.  As I listened, I was reminded of my own childhood.  Despite being a sweet, wonderful, adorable child in almost every other way, I was a biter. My parents struggled to cure me of that habit, and my father finally came up with a cure.  However, I did not hear his cure mentioned on Francene’s show – maybe because it required outstanding courage for him to carry it out.              (click to read more)

TERRY’S TIDBITS - EATERY DRINKERY, THE SMOKE COPS, SCOOTING ALONG, THE FEAR OF OIL…          By Terry Gray

REPORT ON EXODUS MANDATE (Proposing the Removal of Baptist Children From Government Schools) AT THE SBC CONVENTION            By E. Ray Moore, Jr.  Chaplain (Lt.Col.) USAR ret           (Report from  Indianapolis, June 13-16) - Our family  attended the SBC Baptist Convention as observers. Two members of our ministry, Houston Attorney, Bruce Shortt and T.C. Pinckney, Brig General USAF ret, former 2nd Vice President of the SBC,   sponsored  the now famous SBC Christian education resolution for Baptists to pull their children out of public schools and only home school or put their children in Christian schools. This has become a major national news story in both the Christian and secular media. Millions are reading and discussing this issue now. Stories have appeared for weeks in 100's of newspapers all over the USA. On June 17, the story appeared again in many USA major dailies.             (click to read more)

UN CONFIRMS: WMDs SMUGGLED OUT OF IRAQ        By Rod D. Martin, 18 June 2004          In a report which might alternately be termed "stunning" or "terrifying", United Nations weapons inspectors confirmed last week not merely that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, but that he smuggled them out of his country, before, during and after the war.            (click to read more)

The Bolsheviks of Baseball        Jonathan David Morris         There's been a lot of talk this year -- as there seems to be pretty much every year -- about how unfair it is to be anything other than a New York Yankees fan. This is because the New York Yankees have more money than any team in baseball, and because owner George Steinbrenner consistently spends it in order to win.             (click to read more)

Statements By Democrats Concerning Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq         "One way or the other, we are determined to deny Iraq the capacity to develop weapons of mass destruction and the missiles to deliver them. That is our bottom line." - President Clinton, Feb. 4, 1998            (click to read more)

Beyond Tomorrow: Some Not So Special Effects        by Lady Liberty        Memorial Day marks not just the start of summer for many, but the start of the summer movie season for Hollywood. Traditionally, there are a couple of  major action or disaster flicks that open on Memorial Day Weekend, and this year's offering in that genre is the critically maligned “The Day After Tomorrow”. In the case of this film, however, there's much   more at stake - or at least, some assert that there is much more at stake -   than a diverting couple of hours in a movie theatre.            (click to read more)

Veto the VET Challenges EPA Computer Models for Air Pollution        Veto the VET, a grassroots organization formed to get rid of vehicle emission testing and to actually achieve clean air for Northern Kentucky, is once again asking our federal officials to get involved.  The EPA has become caught in its own over jealous regulations by environmentalists, the courts and the states.  It has been reversed after declaring Greater Cincinnati in compliance with air standards. It has been overturned by courts after issuing ethanol waivers. It has been caught using highly inflated benefits by its own computer models that it had to revise the amount of pollution being removed from our air. It has been caught using computer models that have little to no real world data and often use data that is in direct conflict with scientific evidence available.  Even the stringent state of California has offered proof that ethanol is harmful to the air quality; yet the EPA and Washington continue to mandate more states use ethanol.            (click to read more)

Little Guy Taking On Giants – Refusing to Use The Social Security Number        By H. Lance Freeman            In 1996, David Alan Carmichael, then a Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy, came to the conclusion that the Social Security Number (SSN) is the "number" of the beast referred to in the book of Revelation. He notified the SSA of his religious convictions, he declared the SS application made (on his behalf) by someone else rescinded, and he made a vow to the SSA Commissioner that he would never associate himself with a SSN or accept any benefits of the SS program.  Carmichael submitted a formal religious accommodation request to his Commanding Officer.  Carmichael requested that the Navy assign a Navy-generated service number to their personnel records for him in lieu of using a SSN as a Military Personnel Identification Number.  The C.O. never received the request.  The Executive Officer prohibited Carmichael from speaking to the C.O.  Carmichael was due for a transfer to shore duty.             (click to read more)

Ronald Reagan's Real Legacy         by Lady Liberty            I was out and about all day long taking care of myriad weekend chores. It wasn't until I returned home, got a cold drink, and went to check my e-mail that I learned former President Ronald Reagan had died. After announcing a decade ago that he had Alzheimer's disease, he had largely disappeared from the public eye. Perhaps that's why, though his death should have been expected, the news still came as a suprise. It also came as a bit of a shock to me personally as I realized I felt bad about it.            (click to read more)

“The most important element of a free society, where individual rights are held in the highest esteem, is the rejection of the initiation of violence. All initiation of force is a violation of someone else's rights, whether initiated by an individual or the state, for the benefit of an individual or group of individuals, even if it's supposed to be for the benefit of another individual or group of individuals. Legitimate use of violence can only be that which is required in self-defense.”

-- Ron Paul,

“So long as the attitude in society is that people are responsible for themselves, but that nature inevitably will limit what we can have, there is a chance that the discontent people feel will be directed at nature. But when we take the attitude that government is all-powerful, that it's only because somebody didn't pass the right law that we're in a bad way, then discontent will be directed at the people.” -- Milton Friedman

Free State Project

"[T]he only foundation for a useful education in a republic is to be laid in religion. Without this there can be no virtue, and without virtue there can be no liberty, and liberty is the object and life of all republican governments." --Benjamin Rush

"What is a communist?

One who hath yearnings

For equal division of unequal earnings." --Ebenezer Elliott
