KYREPUBLICANS NEWS
- Guest Column by U.S. Senator Jim Bunning:
"Honoring Our Fallen"
Since May of 1868 Americans have honored those brave men
and women who made the supreme sacrifice in protecting our
freedoms. Memorial Day did not become a national holiday until
1971, when Congress set aside the last Monday in May as a
day of remembrance for our nation's fallen airmen, soldiers,
sailors, and marines. As we celebrate on this year's Memorial
Day, we are engaged in a Global War on Terrorism to protect
the freedoms we all love and cherish.

- 4th District Congressional Candidate Geoff Davis:
"Clooney Proposal Would Bankrupt Medicare"
Erlanger, KY - Geoff Davis, Republican nominee for U.S.
Congress, stated today that he strongly opposes Nick Clooneys
first major policy announcement made yesterday in Augusta. In a
story in todays Kentucky Enquirer, Patrick Crowley reported
that, Clooney said he would consider making Medicare available
to more Americans by lowering the age eligibility from 65 to 55.
This proposal would cost at least $2 trillion over ten years and is
more than double the projected cost of John Kerrys health care
plan.

KYREPUBLICANS COMMENTARY
- Steve Pence Was Right
by H. B. Elkins
Let us now pause to give praise to Lt. Gov. Steve Pence, who
angered Democratic leaders in the House of Representatives last
week by merely speaking the truth. The truth - it's a funny thing,
and something with which Jody Richards and his band of merry
men are unacquainted.

- The American Fighting Man
by Ray Rivera
I got the following email at my office last week: The average age
of the military man is 19. He's a short haired, tight-muscled kid
who under normal circumstances is considered by society as half
man, half boy. Not old enough to buy a beer, but old enough to
die for his country

- Decentralize State Government
by H. B. Elkins
Drive through Frankfort on a weekday, especially during a
legislative session, and the place appears vibrant, booming and
alive. Rush hour traffic on Versailles Road (US 60) and
Lawrenceburg Road (US 127) can be as frustrating as anything
you'll encounter in the big city. It can take nearly as long to get
from the interstate to downtown as it does to get from one of the
city's exits on I-64 to Lexington.

- No Apologies Here
by Frank Friday
It is ironic that the same humiliating, homoerotic photoshoot the
prison guards staged in Baghdad which will result in courts
martial prosecutions for all the offenders, if done stateside,
would have been eligible for a National Endowment for the Arts
grant.
