American Bastile -American Bastile written by John A. Marshall, originally published in 1881 and reprinted by the Crown Rights Book Co., describes (in 767 pages) the false arrests of innocent citizens during Lincoln's dictatorship, and their ordeal in the different prisons around the North….Most of the prisoners were never told of the charges against them, never knew who their accusers were, when asked about their authority to arrest, there was none, no trials except occasionally a prisoner would be brought in front of a "military commission" which was, of course, illegal. They were imprisoned without knowing what they had done wrong, and when they were eventually released months or years later, they still did not know.  http://www.lewrockwell.com/orig5/mclain1.html

The Hyena Press – Thomas Sowell

Part 1 What we are seeing in the media today is a degeneracy that is by no means confined to the media, and is indeed actively promoted in many of our schools that are busy breaking down moral standards instead of educating children…Along with this degeneracy has come a tragic irresponsibility by people who simply refuse to realize that we are currently engaged in World War III -- and were for years, before we were finally forced to realize it by the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. http://www.townhall.com/columnists/thomassowell/ts20040518.shtml

Part 2 Two questions would destroy at least half the agenda of the political left: "Compared to what?" and "At what cost?"…A third question would wipe out most of the rest of the left's agenda and demolish the vision behind that agenda: "What hard evidence do you have?" http://www.townhall.com/columnists/thomassowell/ts20040519.shtml

Half a Century After Brown – Thomas Sowell

Part 1  The key fallacy underlying the civil rights vision was that all black economic lags were due to racial discrimination. That assumption has survived to this day, in the courts, in the media, in academia, and above all in politics…. No amount of factual evidence can make a dent in that assumption.  http://www.townhall.com/columnists/thomassowell/ts20040512.shtml

Part 2    It so happened that, within walking distance of the Supreme Court where this sweeping pronouncement was made, there was an all-black high school that had produced quality education for more than 80 years. Back in 1899 this school outscored two out of three white high schools in Washington on standardized tests… Today, in the 21st century, it would be considered Utopian even to hope for such a result. Moreover, this was not an isolated fluke.  http://www.townhall.com/columnists/thomassowell/ts20040513.shtml

Part 3 In the half century since Brown, judges at all levels have become unelected legislators imposing the vision of the political left across a wide spectrum.  http://www.townhall.com/columnists/thomassowell/ts20040514.shtml
