“I'm proud to be paying taxes in the United States. The only thing is -- I could be just as proud for half the money.” -- Arthur Godfrey
Nick Berg’s Murder By Theresa Fritz Camoriano Nick Berg’s killers shouted “God is great” and then proceeded to cut his head off. By all accounts, Berg was an innocent civilian who had done no harm to his killers. According to World Magazine, a similar situation also recently occurred in Pakistan, where a university student named Javed Anjum died on May 2 at the hands of the leaders of an Islamic seminary. Anjum had stopped to drink from a tap outside the seminary and was kidnapped by the seminary leaders. He was beaten and tortured to death after they learned he was Christian. The abuse “included electrical shocks to his ears, a broken right arm and fingers, and ripped-out fingernails. His death on May 2 was the result of kidney failure from the injuries.” What kind of “religion” uses God’s name as a basis for murdering innocent civilians? Where is the moral outrage? Warning: Smoking ban hazardous to the tenure of Supreme Court justices By Jim Waters I am not a smoker. In fact, I dislike second-hand smoke so much that I have been known to tell rude smokers in restaurants to blow their smoke in another direction – at least until I finish dessert. “When your response to everything that is wrong with the world is to say, ‘there ought to be a law,’ you are saying that you hold freedom very cheap.” – Thomas Sowell |
Smarty Jones Wins Preakness by Record Margin “While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued; but when once they lose their virtue then will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader.” --Samuel Adams "Every thinking man, when he thinks, realizes that the teachings of the Bible are so interwoven and entwined with our whole civic and social life that it would be literally impossible for us to figure ourselves what that life would be if these standards were removed. We would lose almost all the standards by which we now judge both public and private morals; all the standards which we, with more or less resolution, strive to raise ourselves."-- Theodore Roosevelt "Nothing is more certain than that a general profligacy and corruption of manners make a people ripe for destruction. A good form of government may hold the rotten materials together for some time, but beyond a certain pitch, even the best constitution will be ineffectual, and slavery must ensue." --John Witherspoon
