***WE HAVE A CHANCE TO WIN TWO VICTORIES - IF WE ACT NOW!***
FIRST: STOP COG
We have been fighting the continuity of government scheme (COG) for the past
year and now we have a chance to put this issue to death!
An orchestrated, well-financed campaign to quickly amend the constitution is
underway - but we can stop this devastating COG proposal in its tracks by
throwing our support behind a good bill.
Rep. James Sensenbrenner has introduced H.R. 2844, the Continuity in
Representation Act of 2004, that is being backed by Rep. Ron Paul. This is a
good bill, this is a constitutional bill, this is a bill that allows you to
keep your voting rights. It requires states to hold special elections within
21 days of a national emergency that leaves more than 100 vacancies in the
House.
Speaker Dennis Hastert has promised a floor vote this week. It's critical
that you take action now.
By supporting the Sensenbrenner bill we can take the steam out of the COG
juggernaut. Powerful forces are behind a bill by Rep. Brian Baird that will
that will undermine your right to vote for your representatives! Baird's
H.J. Res. 83 proposes a constitutional amendment that, in cases of House
vacancies, would have your congressmen appointed instead of elected by you.
In other words, your voice would be silenced.
We need to thwart the attempt of Baird and the COG-Forces to devastate our
constitution and demolish our right to choose our elected officials by
rallying behind Sensenbrenner's bill!
Now is the time to act! Now is the time to nip COG in the bud by passing
good constitutional legislation! Support H.R. 2844.
**ACTION TO TAKE**
1. Call Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.) and tell him to follow
through with his promise to bring Sensenbrenner's bill to the floor for a
vote. Tell him you support this bill and you want to see it passed.
Hastert's direct line is (202) 225-2976.
2. Call the House switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and ask for your
representative by
name. Tell them to vote for H.R. 2844, which guarantees our government
will
operate smoothly in the face of a disaster - but does not try to
infringe upon your
constitutional rights in the process!

*** SECOND: STOP THE LAW OF THE SEA TREATY ***
We are winning the battle in Congress - keep the phone calls and letters
coming!
We are seeing some success with stopping the Law of the Sea Treaty, a U.N.
socialist measure that takes our sovereign rights and places them in the
control of three global authorities.
This treaty gives the United Nations jurisdiction over the world's seas - an
estimated 70 percent of the earth's mass - and would require America to pay
fees and obtain permission before drilling or mining, prohibit our freedom
to search suspect vessels, transfer our technology to other nations unable
to develop their own and threatens even to give the global authorities
control of the skies and space above the seas!
On seeming fast-track to senate ratification, this devastating measure that
amounts to the largest transfer of American sovereignty to the United
Nations in history has suddenly been bogged down in scheduled committee
hearings. It seems Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Ind.) and his February success at
pushing LOST through his Foreign Relations Committee toward the senate for
vote is finally meeting with resistance, so much that some on Capitol Hill
are taking a second look!
This delay, coming in the form now of a soon-to-be scheduled Senate Select
Committee on Intelligence hearing, is due primarily to the public outcry you
have raised these past few weeks. But we must not step aside yet!
Inside sources on Capitol Hill tell APC the only thing preventing the senate
from ratification is your public outcry - and now is not the time to stop!
We must continue to put pressure on our senators and let them know that
America will not stand for this U.N. measure and its anti-capitalist,
anti-free market and anti-sovereign rules!
**ACTION TO TAKE**
1. Call the Senate switchboard at (202) 225-3132 and tell your own senators
to 'vote no!' on this Law of the Sea Treaty! Tell them you're tired of
America caving to the demands of global authorities who dislike everything
American but our money!
2. Call the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, the next stop for
debate on this treaty, and tell them to include treaty opponents at the
witness table when they schedule their LOST hearing. Tell them also that you
would like to see the treaty stopped in this committee and that America
shouldn't have to ask permission from anybody to engage in free-market
endeavors on the open seas! The committee's number is (202) 224-1700.
