We need your help to end vehicle emission testing today.  SJR3 has been passed from a House committee and now sits awaiting a call to the floor by the majority party, the Democrats.  Please call the following House leaders and ask them to call, support and vote favorably on SJR3 nowOur  own  JIM CALLAHN  is  REFUSING  to allow the bill to the floor for a vote.

All can be reach toll free and name each so that they  get a green slip/note from you  Call 1-800 372-7181   or call their homes

Jim Callahan H  859-781 1232  Jody Richards  H 1- 270-842 6731    Larry Clark  H  1-502-968-3546     Rocky Adkins H 1-606-738-4242  or Arnold Simpson  H  859-261-6577.

On April 15th, 2004, the EPA will announce possible new counties that will be subjected to consumer and commerical regulations, including tailpipe testing already in Boone, Campbell, Jefferson & Kenton.  Are you on the list:  Boyd, Bullet, Carter, Christian, Davies, Edmonson, Fayette, Graves, Hancock, Hardin, Henderson, Livingston, McCracken, McLean, Oldham, Pulaski, Simpson or Trigg?  Did you know the above counties have got a GRADE of  F from the American Lung Association & that can be a foreshadowing of  the EPA's coming.      Northern Kentucky counties have be in compliance with the 1990 Clean Air Act and still got tailpipe testing & reformulated ethanol gasoline.   Why, because they use the credits to allow industry to pollute while meeting a complex EPA guideline under the State Implementation Plan.  In fact, 99% of N Ky cars built after 1993 pass but they still claim testing is needed.   Yet some environmentalist stay car owners are given a free ride and are not doing enough.

As a side note, Insight Communication refused to air a "Paid For" weather crawl with Rep. Cahallan's phone number to urge him to support SRJ3.  The sales manager is Rick Tarvin @ 344-9200.

Veto the V.E.T. is a grassroots organization formed to stop auto emissions testing in Boone, Kenton and Campbell counties.  We are the only three KENTUCKY counties currently required to test for auto emissions.  V.E.T. is mandated by law from Frankfort, it can only be stopped in Frankfort.  Don't let this happen to you.

Note:       This is a complex issue with many proponents & opponents, made up from industry, environmental groups. lobbists, non-profit organizations, governmental agencies and profit makers for continuing auto testing.  We hope this site will provide you with factual information and you too will come to the conclusion that auto testing is a waste of our time,  our resources and not needed in Northern Kentucky for clean air ! Some sites will limit or prohibt our linking directly to their sites...BEWARE. We have hard copies of information posted.

Reasons Why Testing in N. Kentucky

IS Not Needed !

Using their own statistical data, 99% of cars built after 1993 pass the test.

Florida and Minnesota stop testing without losing Federal Highway dollars.

The Contract with Envirotest is Unconstitutional and should be stopped today.

A recent report by the National Academy of Sciences shows that the EPA's computer models overstated pollution reductions from testing, the actual science indicate a range from ZERO to 50% (reduction) may have occurred.

University of Denver study indicates that testing and non testing areas have the same deterioration rates, in otherwords, non tested cars and tested cars pollute the same.   Then 99% of newer cars pass the air quality standards...so why test?

EPA wants to shift to OBD On Board Diagnostic tests, however, recent studies indicate they are no better than tailpipe tests in cleaning the air, have higher failure rates which cause consumers needless money and time lost.

Additional studies indicate that 95% of future vehicle air pollution reductions will come from auto technology, only 5% from I/M testing programs.

Emission Credits are given to stationary Polluters but not car owners. We paid for emission control equipment on our cars just like the smokestack industry paid for scrubbers, so why is the individual property rights denied him?

Allowing Emission Credits to be controlled in Washington or by some international company, local and state officials have lost incentives to keep or attract industry.  Why would state leaders willingly do this?

Emission Credits are worth billions and awarded by the EPA, what is the taxation position of  the Kentucky Revenue Cabinet on this issue.

Boone, Kenton & Campbell Counties are the only 3 counties in kentucky testing.

Cincinnati's pollution credits don't transfer here, just the dirty air.
