Dear friend,

I have an urgent prayer request. Today, House leaders announced their intention to hold a Democratic caucus Monday (March 22) at 2 p.m. in the Supreme Court chamber. At this meeting the Democratic majority will have the opportunity to vote whether to allow Senate Bill 245 (which bans same-sex marriage) to come to the House Floor for a vote.

At this time Democratic legislators are evenly divided on this issue. One vote may decide the outcome. Please consider fasting and praying for your lawmakers on Monday and Tuesday. Many are very confused. Their homosexual constituents have been very aggressive about personally come to see them and talk to them at the Capitol.

Should Democrats vote to kill S.B. 245, Republicans will file a petition on Tuesday to discharge S.B. 245 from committee . . . which will require the vote of 51 members. If this parliamentary procedure should become necessary, 33 of the 35 Republicans plus a handful of Democrats are expected to support it. While that vote would make history as the closest vote ever taken on a discharge petition, it still might not have enough support to be successful.

If you come to the Capitol Monday to see your legislator before the 2:00 p.m. meeting, I'll furnish free sandwiches for those not fasting. You can meet me at noon in Room 149 of the Capitol Annex and you can also be in prayer while the Democrats are meeting.

Tuesday at Noon, consider joining other church groups for a Christian rally at the Capitol Rotunda to make Kentucky the first state to pass a constitutional amendment to preserve the sanctity of marriage by defining it as being between one man and one woman.
