“Ending the ‘Slavocracy’” by Anthony B.
Bradley
The
institution of slavery continues to oppress millions. In
India, the practice often comes under the name of bonded
labor—a euphemism for slavery. But, as Anthony Bradley makes
clear, one of the best hopes for putting a stop to this
horrid practice is broader economic development and
fostering an entrepreneurial culture.Acton Web Poll:

“Private Faith and Public Politics” by Jordan
Ballor
Should
America's political leaders keep their religious faith a private
matter? Can politicians simply serve the “will of the people”
without showing moral discernment? “True statesmen are not
merely mouthpieces for opinion polls,” writes Jordan Ballor. |

2004 Homiletics Program Looks at Parable of the Shrewd Manager
| |
The sixth annual Acton Institute Homiletics
Award competition is underway. The Award program is for
seminarians and graduate students in programs preparing them for
preaching and teaching ministries. For this year’s competition,
Acton has selected Luke 16:1-16, the parable of the shrewd
manager. The goal of the Homiletics program is to challenge
students to interpret and exposit the message of this passage in
a way that is both biblically faithful and relevant to the needs
of contemporary society. Please pass this information on to
students who may be interested in and benefited by participation
in this competition. |
