Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man's character, give him power.

--Abraham Lincoln

The Culture Wars and The Rule of Law          By Theresa Fritz Camoriano         There can be no doubt that our country is in the midst of a culture war.  While this is a disturbing trend, what is even more disturbing is the fact that people on both sides of the war are willing to trample the rule of law in order to impose their values on others.  While much of the destruction of our legal foundations has been achieved by those on the left, the right is getting into the act too.  Unfortunately, by the time they are both finished, we are likely to have a tyranny that harms everyone.        (click to read more)

Charles Krauthammer…and sexually challenged marriages!         By John William Kurowski, American Constitutional Research Service           I am sad to report that Charles Krauthammer has missed the most important points regarding same sex “marriage” in his column titled NOT AGAIN! Revolution by Fiat         (click to read more)

Choice: The right thing for public schools, too        By: Mr. Jim Waters           Opponents of school choice usually base their arguments on a professed interest in protecting public education from the “evils” of private institutions.        (click to read more)

Sustaining Freedom in America         By Henry Lamb           Sustaining freedom in America is far too important to be left up to the politicians.  This fact was well understood by our founders, who constructed a system that requires the people to periodically elect representatives, at every level of government, to formulate public policies that govern society.        (click to read more)

THE AIR, ACCORDING TO OSHA         Provided by John Dant           Though repetition has little to do with "the truth," we're repeatedly told that there's "no safe level of exposure to secondhand smoke."

OSHA begs to differ.         (click to read more)

ABOLISH THE CAPITAL GAINS TAX (Third in a Series)           by Rod D. Martin, 4 March 2004          In my ongoing series on making the flat tax a reality, I have noted that there are five key reforms which must take place before a completely new system can be enacted. Successful navigation of this "road map to reform" will improve fairness while preparing the system for an entirely new tax code; it will also teach average Americans -- and their legislators -- the lessons needed to guide them toward the best possible change.        (click to read more)

Planners OK new historic district in Lexington KY         City planners recently moved to designate a deeply divided low-income neighborhood as Lexington's 17th local historic district, unanimously rejecting the arguments of some that such a classification is a camouflaged form of racism that will gentrify the area.        (click to read more)

Terry's Tidbits          by Terry Gray

The Politics of the Christ          Jonathan David Morris          I suppose since this essay is largely inspired by Mel Gibson's new God flick, The Passion of the Christ, I should start with a quick review. I had a chance to see it this past weekend, and in short: I thought it was good.         (click to read more)

"Our preference would be for a more modest (gay marriage) amendment, one that would prevent the federal courts from imposing same-sex marriage on the country, but would not foreclose the possibility of its establishment (at the individual state level) if proponents could succeed in the democratic process. (O)ur amendment would read as follows: 'Nothing in this Constitution shall be construed to require any state or the federal government to recognize any marriage except between a man and a woman.'  This would not solve the current problems in Massachusetts and California, but it would prevent them from becoming problems for other states--and in that case, there's no reason to make a federal case out of it."

U.S. Constitution...  Void Where Prohibited by Judges

"An independent judiciary does not mean judges independent of the
Constitution from which they derive their power or independent
of the laws that they are sworn to uphold." --Thomas Sowell

Free State Project

“The very principle of capitalist entrepreneurship is to provide for the common man. In his capacity as consumer the common man is the sovereign whose buying or abstention from buying decides the fate of entrepreneurial activities. There is in the market economy no other means of acquiring and preserving wealth than by supplying the masses in the best and cheapest way with all the goods they ask for.”-- Ludwig von Mises

"The single most prevalent form of child abuse in this country is the act of sending a child to a government school. We worry incessantly about the separation of church and state. We would do well to devote half as much attention to the separation of
government and education." --Neal Boortz

“True conservatives and libertarians should understand that the solution to our moral and cultural decline does not lie in a strong centralized government." - Rep. Ron Paul, Texas Republican
