Kevin Laugherty To The Rescue

By Theresa Fritz Camoriano

Jefferson Review’s own webmaster is a Louisville hero! As Kevin Laugherty was on his way home from working out, driving down Shelbyville Road in his spiffy new truck, he saw a boy running across the busy road shouting, "Someone help me, he's trying to get me!”  Kevin pulled into the parking lot of the Mall in St. Matthews, checked to make sure the boy was alright, and then called the police and followed the man who had tried to kidnap the boy, helping the police catch the man.

Kevin had tried to avoid publicity for himself, as he cooperated with the police and with the news media.  The television stations accepted his request and filmed Kevin’s description of the event without showing his face, but, to Kevin’s surprise, after he requested that he not be identified, The Courier-Journal reporter put his full name into its article about the incident.

While we admire Kevin’s desire to do a good deed anonymously, we are glad that we now can publicly thank him for going the extra mile to help a child and for his bravery in helping the police chase the man.  His efforts may prevent another child from being kidnapped.  And we thank him for all his does for Jefferson Review as well – posting each week’s issue, and putting up with our last minute changes and errors.  Many thanks to you, Kevin!  We are very glad you are a part of our community!
