Dear Freind,
As the Courier-Journal reported today, the smoking ban
legislation proposed by Metro Council Member Doug Hawkins has been allowed to
die in committee. However, the Council has indicated that it will continue
to pursue the issue, and is expected to consider other recommendations soon.
A smoking ban is still among the options being considered, as well as some
compromises which we would have to underwrite.
The Ad Hoc Committee will meet Monday at 4 p.m. to discuss
ways to resolve the issue within the next few weeks. We need as many people
as possible to show up before the meeting to show our opposition to a smoking
ban.
Please join us on Monday at 3:30 -4:00 outside at the Metro
Council to demonstrate your commitment.
Best Regards,
John Dant, President
Metro Louisville Hospitality Coalition
