“No man's life, liberty, or property are safe while the legislature is in session.”-- Mark Twain

Hot Off The Press – What is a Statesman, and What is Coercion?           By Theresa Fritz Camoriano           Kentucky’s former governor, Louie Nunn, recently died, and the press has been praising him for being “courageous” and “a statesman”, because he broke his campaign pledge and raised taxes.  I did not know Governor Nunn well but had talked with him a couple of times, and I am sure it would not have been difficult for the press to find many genuinely positive attributes that they could have praised.  However, misleading or tricking voters surely is not something most of us would consider to be a positive attribute.  If breaking promises to voters makes a person courageous and a statesman, then Bill Clinton must be the most courageous statesman we have seen for many years!          (click to read more)

Title of Steve Moore’s Feb. 4 Speech in Louisville Has Been Changed        We have refined the title for Steve Moore's Feb. 4 lunch presentation in Louisville after reading an article posted at the Cato Institute two days ago concerning advice Steve has given Arnold Schwarzenegger.  (Read the full article: Arnold's New Role.)        (click to read more)

Where Should Christianity and Government Intersect?        By Theresa Fritz Camoriano         It seems that, in today’s so-called “tolerant” society, the one thing that cannot be tolerated is Christianity. For example, children are punished in government schools if they say a prayer before a meal or include a cross in one of their drawings.  A recent book, Persecution, by David Limbaugh, provides extensive examples of the persecution Christians face in the U.S. today, often in the name of “tolerance”.   I would like to suggest two reasons for this phenomenon:  First, many people want to live according to their own rules, do their own thing, and not be measured against any absolute standards or absolute truth; since Christianity supports absolute standards, it makes these people uncomfortable.  Second, Christians themselves frequently do not act in accordance with Christ’s teachings, often provoking an anti-Christian backlash.          (click to read more)

Repeal the USA PATRIOT Act!          By Gordon Francis Corbett           Something strange is happening across our land.  Ordinary Republicans, Democrats, and independents are urging their city, county, or State governments to disobey the USA PATRIOT Act and to flout the government that passed it.         (click to read more)

U.N. influence in U.S. schools         By Henry Lamb        Since its beginning, the United Nations Education, Science and Cultural Organization has been trying to impose an international curriculum to prepare students for world government. More than 500 U.S. schools are now using the International Baccalaureate program, and the Department of Education has just awarded a $1.2 million grant to expand the program in middle schools in Arizona, Massachusetts and New York.         (click to read more)

Wilmette, Illinois: Trouble In Paradise.         By Thomas Crane          In response to a proposal made by Rep. John Bradley, D.-Marion, Illinois, that would override such bans when the guns are used in self-defense, Mr. Chris Boyster of the Illinois Council Against Handgun Violence was quoted as saying in the January 29, 2004 edition of the Illinois Times that Mr. DeMar, the man who shot the perpetrator who broke into his Wilmette home for the second time within 24 hours, "Did not have the right under the ordinance to keep a handgun in his house."  "He (Mr. DeMar) was not a law-abiding citizen," he said.  Mr. Boyster went on to say, "He had a handgun, there was a handgun ban, he broke the law."        (click to read more)

"Those who want to take our money and gain power over us have discovered the magic formula: Get us envious or angry at others and we will surrender, in installments, not only our money but our freedom.  The most successful dictators of the 20th century -- Hitler, Lenin, Stalin, Mao -- all used this formula and now class warfare politicians here are doing the same." --Thomas Sowell

“The choice today in America is not between a rational, reasonable neutrality on the one hand and a fervent religious conservatism on the other.  The choice is between a sinister secular fundamentalism and a benign religious conservatism.  And it’s clear who’s been trying to impose their beliefs on everyone else for the past 40 years.” – Rabbi Daniel Lapin

“Healthy marriages are the result of individual conviction and personal responsibility, neither of which can be mandated by government.  ….Government is not morality, government is force--- and forcing taxpayers to fund another silly program will not strengthen the institution of marriage.” – Congressman Ron Paul
