Hello all:

AGAIN we missed Ryan's call, this time from Kuwait, as Maddy and I were at church and Amy and Lauren were in Columbus, OH for a cheerleading team competition.

However, upon returning from church, we checked the only message we had and Ryan had some good news for us. It looks like his platoon will not have port duty after all and will be able to leave with the rest of the Company.

It appears that Bravo Company and Charlie Company's LE Platoon will be getting port duty so Ryan and his Sapper Platoon will be returning with the major portion of his company sometime between 1/27 and 2/15/2004. Bravo Company already has a confirmation for the 22nd.

We will be anxiously awaiting information as to when we can be there at Bragg to welcome them home and will advise. Know that after we welcome him home and talk with him, we will decide together when to have the welcome home celebration here in Lexington. And you can rest assured all of you will know.

Thanks to everyone for your voluminous and supportive prayers and kind words and praise while we have had our son and brother in harm's way. Please continue to pray for Ryan and the rest of the 37th Engineer Bn, Combat, Airborne, and of course, all of our wonderful military.

God bless our troops.

Yours in Liberty endowed by the Creator,

Saved by Jesus Christ, and

Preserved by the American Military Veteran,

Jeff "Mario" Smith & Family
