Dear Resa,

I found myself interested in your idea to limit public funding of schools to "core" subjects.  The idea struck me as original.  I never heard this idea before.  I do not often agree with the libertarian ideas of Jefferson Review; however, your idea of limiting public education to "core" subjects, I believe, has merit.  The idea should be studied seriously.  The question for me--is what should be included in "core" subjects.  My first thought is that in addition to the "core" subjects that you listed, I would include gym and sex education, because, I believe the latter are important for health.  Others may believe that art, music, and languages are important--and others may believe that the sciences---biology, chemistry, and physics are important.
