I read this news article http://www.news4jax.com/news/2730729/detail.html about the financial impact the Smoking Ban is having on Florida. Restaurants are experiencing a 40% loss of revenues. I am including a copy of the article Written by the Associated Press.
I am involved with a grassroots group called Florida Rights dedicated to fighting the unconstitutional smoking ban. We are collecting ban loss information from places all over the country to prove smoking bans do hurt businesses.
It is absolutely amazing how the American Cancer Society, Lung, and Heart Associations are running the State of Florida. They are overruling state legislation as far as nonprofit organizations. These clubs were exempt from the law but now are being told by the ATB (run by the ACS) that they are not. Charity money and membership is down. According to the IRS, 501c3 nonprofit organizations cannot influence legislation. The information provided in this website certainly contradicts this law.
In my opinion this is where the abuses are, and would make a great news article. Also, a word to the wise, “Follow the Money!”
