"Good Bye Bad Career Politicians!"

Attempting to fix BIG problems in a Small Indiana Community
Michael W. Wildt, M.A

A Concerned Citizen / Property Tax Payer

The recent elections proved several things to most everyone in
New Albany, Indiana.  The community is finally demanding
better.  And all BAD "Career" Politicians should take special
notice.

For so long, our quiet bedroom community has been impacted
by such big city problems - yet the electorate was not fully
engaged: The MEGA sewer problems; the nearly 300 people
being arrested in a massive drug raid not too long ago; and the
past Audits that showed local officials are not being held
accountable by the State -  just to name a few...

"Mrs. Overton, (and that sounds SO much better to me) your
Private Kingdom is GONE!"  "And oh by the way: "You are
Not the Best Thing ever to have happen to New Albany!" (Indiana)

Mrs. Overton, you could have had your greatest wish - your
legacy - come to pass in the form of the YMCA.  But thankfully,
your "Legacy" will be largely the expansion of our Sewer
system.  How fitting...

Maybe now you could build your next private venture on the
very contaminated soil that you so lusted for.  Be sure it will be
only in downtown New Albany.   After all, you really so care
about the N.A. downtown area so much - Don't you?

The truth is, that under the Overton Administration you allowed
the tentacles of Annexation to quietly network up into the rest of
Floyd County via - the Sewer system.  And Floyd County
beware...

The good news is that your Sewer plan could now be modified
to save approximately $20 million dollars for all of us meager
sewer rate / property tax payers by now simply allowing the
proven "Blending" Method - which most other cities use
effectively in their Sewer Systems.  But you Mrs. Overton -  so
fought against.  Good Riddance!

Dick Bliss, who gave new meaning to the phase - "Ignorance
is Bliss"... is gone.  I hope NEVER to return.  It was very
impressive how one can go to great lengths to forge the agenda
of a few number of builders and contractors - and not the
property tax payers that finally realized their plight with higher
taxes.

Ronny Hornung, I had such great hope for you - but you
seemingly abused your office not to provide the best SERVICE
possible; and just like your leader - suffered the same fate.  How
Fitting.

Now, fellow Concerned Citizens; if we can continue the trend in
the next election - and refocus our concerns not only on the City
/County Government, but on our NA/FC School System - which
is responsible for approximately 50 - 80 percent of
what we ALL pay for in yearly Property Taxes in New
Albany/Floyd County.

Why not have a FULL development plan for Floyd County: one
FULL plan with Parks and Green spaces in the Knobs.  This
would  demonstrate true vision; that is if that is what the
majority of people of the "Knobs" truly want.  But, the New
Albany City Tax Payers should not have to pay one dime for the
expansions of roof counts for the knobs; nor the corresponding
cost of additional development for the benefit of the very few
people - the special interest, the contractors, nor profiteers.

I see no reason at this time, that "they" and they alone should
not pay the FULL cost of any private developments - Water,
Sewer, etc.

I have another question though:  If the people of the "Knobs"
really wanted to live in a "City" - then why don't they already
live in a City?  After all, we have such great properties and High
TAXES you know right here in New Albany already...

All Property Tax Payers must awaken to do their best to
understand what is at stake - and gain TRUE control of our cost
of living in OUR Community.

It will take all of us to awaken and monitor the unnecessary and
reckless spending by State and Local officials...

I have heard recently that our local university - IUS - will be
studying the recent local election.  But really now; it's not
academic at all.

It was simple: "Good Bye Bad Career Politicians!"
