Dear GLI,
As a member, and business owner, I see the folly of the VET testing program,
and want to see it end as scheduled. The VET does nothing to clean the air.
The vast majority of the cars pass, and the ones who don't are not taken off the
road. How could they? People must have their cars to survive, and people buy
the BEST car they can afford, which sometimes, is not a very good or clean
running one, to say the least.
The truly polluting vehicles, like the trucks, and buses are not even tested!
1-65 runs right through downtown, with trucks and travelers going north and
south, with no testing required for vehicles, (Thank Goodness!) and the
airport brings planes into the area daily, whose pollution is not taken into
consideration.
The VET test is a scam to make us FEEL GOOD about helping reduce pollution,
thus harassing the "little Guy", and of course taking "fraudulent"
Pollution credits that are rightfully the property of the vehicle owner
himself, and giving them to businesses, so they CAN pollute more !!
I know that GLI is supportive of business, and this is great, but in a case such
as this, WE All breathe the air, and what you are really doing is supporting
and advocating INCREASED pollution !!
Please reconsider your position. The health of our community should be more
important to you (US) than letting the REAL polluters save a few bucks and
avoid cleaning up their own mess!
