What is politically defined as economic "planning" is the forcible superseding of other people's plans by government officials.
-- Thomas Sowell

Ballot Box Bullies (and Smoking Bans)       By Theresa Fritz Camoriano        How is it that so many people who are usually nice, well-intentioned, and mild mannered, somehow become tremendous bullies when there is a ballot box between them and their victims?  The very same people who would never dream of personally using aggressive force against their neighbors feel themselves to be virtuous when they promote and support the use of aggressive government force against innocent people.  They believe that an act which would clearly be morally wrong if done by an individual somehow miraculously becomes virtuous if it is done by a majority vote.         (Click to Read More)

Blasphemy       By George Baumler         Two seemingly unrelated headlines except that both have to do with environmental issues that according to liberals are a result of human activity.  These studies are already some few years old, yet little is reported about them.  Why not?  The answer is in the very nature of those who seek to control their fellow men.          (Click to Read More)

STOP THE VET (Vehicle Emissions Testing)        By Terry Gray         Greater Louisville Inc. says that without the VET, air pollution could become so bad in Louisville that some businesses may have to pack up and leave.  They fear we would lose jobs and most of all some of our tax base.  They don’t mention the tax base, though.  TAX BASE, TAX BASE, TAX BASE!  There, now it’s out.  These companies need to comply or move.  The idea is simply this:  “To keep our TAX BASE, we’ll show the Federal government that we are trying to reduce emission through VET testing.  This way we’ll keep the Feds off our backs, keep our TAX BASE and make some bucks with the VET too.”  Hey what a concept.           (Click to Read More)

Gay ordinance nixed in Florida         By John William Kurowski       What was touted as a “human rights” ordinance has been defeated in Largo, Florida.  But what “human rights” did the ordinance really seek to protect?          (Click to Read More)

“As long as human beings are imperfect, there will always be arguments for extending the power of government to deal with these imperfections. The only logical stopping place is totalitarianism -- unless we realize that tolerating imperfections is the price of freedom.” --Thomas Sowell

Free State Project

“As you may have heard, the U.S. is putting together a constitution
for Iraq. Why don't we just give them ours? Think about it --
it was written by very smart people, it's served us well for over
two hundred years, and besides, we're not using it anymore.” --Jay Leno

The "private sector" of the economy is, in fact, the voluntary sector; and...the "public sector" is, in fact, the coercive sector.  -- Henry Hazlitt
