Two seemingly unrelated headlines except that both have to do with environmental issues that according to liberals are a result of human activity.  These studies are already some few years old, yet little is reported about them.  Why not?  The answer is in the very nature of those who seek to control their fellow men.

The ozone hole over Antarctica can be said to be caused by human activity or better yet by wealthy people enjoying products unavailable to folks in socialist lands.  Of course, all sorts of controls and restrictions could be placed on products and activities in more affluent countries in the name of saving the planet.  Indeed, everything from aerosols and Freon to traveling by air could be and is condemned by the liberal green crowd.  Since cloud cover has such a large impact on global temperatures, cloud formation is extremely important in the regulation of the earth's temperature.  If cloud formation were inhibited by human activities, such as driving automobiles, the lack of cloud cover would cause a global temperature increase.  That would be all the justification necessary for the condemnation of automobiles, internal combustion engines and industrial activity.

On the other hand, if ozone depletion and global warming are caused by nature, cosmic rays and/or solar activity, there is no regulatory agency on earth that can make any difference.  Such a thought is frightening to those who believe they must control everything, especially the environment.  They believe the best way to control the environment is to control their fellow man.  For this reason, the environmental movement has taken on the trappings of religion, a matter of faith, and any who dare challenge the anti-western doctrine are branded heretics or are simply not heard.  If there's nothing government can do about it, there's no justification for control of western people.  "Not controlling every aspect of peoples' lives" -- that's blasphemy to a socialist.
