Bernie Kunkel’s Introduction of Charlie Walton, Candidate for KY State Senate

The Reverend John Witherspoon was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. He was truly a Disciple of Freedom and an animated Son of Liberty like George Washington, Patrick Henry, and the rest of America’s Founders.

This man had a lot of guts (or intestinal fortitude if you will) and he always stood firm for God, Family, and Country.

Reverend Witherspoon once stated: “Observe that if your cause is just, if your principles are pure, and if your conduct prudent, you need not fear the multitude of opposing hosts.”

In my mind, and in the minds of those who know him, the Reverend Witherspoon has described our very own State Representative Charlie Walton.  Charlie always stands for what is right no matter who opposes him. He has always worked to limit the size, cost, and reach of BIG STATE GOVERNMENT even when a new program just sounds sooo good, because Charlie understands that our freedom and liberties are of paramount importance first and foremost.  This statesman sees the proper role of government as the watchdog that protects our rights rather than the cow that supplies our milk. He is the champion of individual liberty. Charlie agrees with the Father of the American Revolution, Samuel Adams, who proclaimed that: “The liberties of our Country and the freedom of our Civil Constitution, are worth defending at all costs.”

We need the leadership of excellent legislators like Representative Walton to keep in check the hunger of a big state government that would like to devour our paychecks and our freedoms.

I believe that the great British statesman Edmund Burke had folks like our Charlie Walton in mind when he stated: “How often has public calamity been arrested on the very brink of ruin, by the seasonable energy of a single man? Have we not such man, amongst us?….I say, on such man, confiding in the aid of God, and full of just reliance in his own fortitude, vigour, enterprise, and perseverance, would first draw to him some few like himself, and then that multitudes, hardly thought to be in existence, would appear and troop about him.”

My friends, I am most proud to “troop about” and to introduce to you: an experienced Patriot, Boone County’s very own,  and our next State Senator ----  my dear friend---The Honorable Charlie Walton !!!!!
