“When buying and selling are controlled by legislation, the first things to be bought and sold are legislators.”
-- P.J. O'Rourke

Jefferson Review will not be published on Memorial Day.  Our next issue will be on June 2, 2003

Make A Positive Difference With Your Vote; X-Rated Businesses     By Theresa Fritz Camoriano      1.  Vote - On Tuesday, May 20, Kentuckians will be voting in a primary to choose their next governor.  Many people complain about money talking in politics, but the person who spent $8 million of his own money to buy this election just dropped out of the race.  Many people complain about negative advertising in political races, and there certainly have been some low blows in this race, but we have a choice.  (Click to Read More)

GUNS AND STUFF     By Terry Gray      Rhode Island is raising a whole new generation of arms dealers.  Kids are being encouraged to turn in their toy guns for money.  Considering that the group responsible for this is obviously subversive, given their attitude against the 2nd Amendment, they are not only training future arms dealers, they are training them to deal arms with liberal, subversive attitudes.  (Click to Read More)

Globalist assault against America now underway      by Henry Lamb      "ECOSOC's CSD seeks to control WEHAB."           If you know what this headline means, you are likely to be part of the problem. This headline is written in "acronymese" with a U.N. dialect – the lingo of leftists who live on, and for, the United Nations. Translation: the U.N.'s Economic and Social Council's Commission on Sustainable Development seeks to control Water, Energy, Health, Agriculture, and Biodiversity.   (Click to Read More)

Transit: The Politician's Best Friend (A Toronto Tale)      By Wendell Cox     I had the pleasure of spending a few days in Toronto recently, in connection with a presentation to the Greater Toronto Area Transportation Summit. During that time I was struck by the promises of area politicians, to solve the problem of traffic congestion (the hysterical term is "gridlock,") in the Toronto area by improving public transit.   (Click to Read More)

What $2.1 Billion in Monopoly Gambling Licenses Could Buy Pennsylvanians      HARRISBURG--Today, The Commonwealth Foundation highlighted just some of the programs that Pennsylvanians will lose out on if the General Assembly and Gov. Rendell simply hand over $2.1 billion worth of monopoly gambling licenses to horse racetrack owners virtually for free.  The granting of these monopolies would likely be the single largest corporate welfare subsidy in Pennsylvania history.  (Click to Read More)

MSD      By Terry Gray       MSD wants to raise our drainage/sewage bill by something like 6.5%.  What do you think of that?  The announcement is nothing more than going through the motions. They want our input for some reason that I can’t understand.  If we all call MSD and our Councilmen and say, “No,” to the price hike are they going to forget about it?  Who is going to call and say, “Oh please raise my sewage bill?”  I don’t see that happening.  (Click to Read More)

In memory of those who gave their lives for our freedom.

"We fight not to enslave, but to set a country free, and to make room upon the earth for honest men to live in." --Thomas Paine

Free State Project

"There is no dignity quite so impressive, and no independence quite so important, as living within your means." --Calvin Coolidge

"Just as conservatives must remember the limits of government, libertarians must understand the importance of virtue. A free society rests in part on shared values, including a common understanding of the intrinsic value of each individual and the obligation to respect others' rights."

--W. James Antle III
