Our well-informed, ever-vigilant readers have come to my rescue and answered last week’s question:  What person is on a currency bill who was NEVER a United States President. ?

Answer #1:  hamilton, franklin, the treasurer, and the secretary of the treasury.  Eric

Answer #2:  In regard to the currency question:  There are two images of men who were not president on US currency, Hamilton on the $10 bill, and Franklin on the $100.  Do I get a prize? Kathy

Answer #3:  Resa: Just got home and read this week's JR. In case no one has answered yet: Actually, there are TWO persons on our currency who were never president - Alexander Hamilton, on the $10, and Ben Franklin, on the $100. Also, I believe Chase is on one of the larger bills, perhaps the $500, or the $1000 - though I've never actually seen one :) He was never president either. – CAB

Answer #4:  In an inflated currency and plastic money society, it's not really surprising that the letter writer would need to ask which bills sports which image.  I'm told there is a large denomination bill that also has a non presidential picture, though it is very unlikely I'll get to handle one soon.  ( I do not doubt given the world history of inflation that one day thousand dollar bills will become common currency.)

A fifty dollar federal reserve note has the image of Ben Franklin instead of a dead president.  Ben Franklin was never president.

Many thanks to you all!
