TERRY’S TIDBITS

By Terry Gray

IRAQ:

I wish to thank my government for clarifying something that completely fooled me.  I could have and would have spent my whole life in utter ignorance had it not been for my leaders and their spokespeople enlightening me.

I made an assumption, and I thought rightly so, that we were invading Iraq.  I saw American planes, tanks, soldiers, journalists, and an assorted list of other indicators.  Then I saw bombs and gunfire and heard about deaths of people involved.  It looked like war to me and that we were invading another country.  But, alas, I was wrong.  We aren’t invading, we are liberating.

Thank you, I feel so embarrassed at my ignorance.

P.S.  It has been pointed out to me that the government has just redefined the definition of “invade”.  For instance, if in football you are on the 49th yard marker of your competitor you must now say that you are “liberating” them.  “Invading” or “conquering” are no longer acceptable.  You also must protect the spectators at all costs.  If you enter a neighbor’s yard and commence in kicking his ass, you are “liberating” his family, but you must bring food.  Some wild punches are expected but must be minimal in order to protect the items of “liberation”. Again, ‘invading’ or ‘trespassing’ are not acceptable terms.  Also, “liberating” a neighbor’s family must begin with an announced “liberation” and not be conducted for instance, at a barbeque.  In that case, a judge will decide the proper terminology.

Homeland Security:

I heard on the news a little blurb about Indiana’s new law for kids’ booster seats in cars.  They have almost passed a more stringent law concerning the height, weight, and age of children as their size relates to booster seats.  They are now seeking final approval from The Indiana Office of Homeland Security.

WHAT IS HOMELAND SECURITY DOING IN THIS?  I’m telling you people that we are only steps away from the federal government crawling into bed with us.  Homeland Security and the lack of constitutional safeguards used in creating it have opened the door toward Nazi America.

Pretty strong statement isn’t it?  Look, I’m a patriot and as a patriotic American I can say things about our government.  I say right now to you die-hard, self-proclaimed patriots that can’t see beyond the realms of your own comforts and safety, you deserve Uncle Sam babysitting you.

AFFIRMATIVE ACTION

This is simple; it isn’t affirmative action when it discriminates.  When you have two or more people that are equal to each other in every way and you give “more points” to one or the other based on skin color, sexual orientation, religious preference, or other God-given factors, YOU ARE DISCRIMINATING.  STOP IT!  Flip a coin and be done with it.

MEDIA IN IRAQ

Iraq is a media event designed to throw propaganda at us in such overwhelming quantities that we spin until we fall over.  There is no way than an average person can possibly cut through all of the crap and get to what is really happening.  The number of items that I’ve caught being reported that were obvious attempts at deceit are too many to write about.  However, one sticks out in my head.

A reporter was live in Iraq and reported, “…children came running out of a bunker towards us, no, they were walking casually…” What kind of crap is that?

CAMPAIGN

I do believe that Mr. Nunn is scared of opposition in his bid for governor.  He is trying his best to eliminate competition, which in my book only speaks of his own shortfalls.  If he is the best man for the job then let the votes be counted and stop the playground stuff about Fletcher’s attempts to get a place on the Merry-Go-Round.  Mr. Nunn, you have displayed a big character fault to me and there is no way that this kid will check your name on the ballot.
