George Baumler responds to C-J endorsement of his opponent:

The C-J editorial endorsement of Democrat, in the 20th district metro council race, was predictable given the invasive view of the role of government shared by the taxocrat and the C-J. Saying that Libertarian George Baumler would be unproductive, begs a little translation:

George Baumler will not be a rubber stamp for the Lord High Mayor, will not vote for any tax increases, will not vote to allow the VET program to arise anew from its all too shallow grave, will not vote to turn over one thin dime of the taxpayers' money to multi-billion dollar corporations (Marriot Hotel e.g.), will not vote for taxpayer funding of business lobbying organizations (GLI e.g.), will not compromise on principles and will not dance to the tune of the downtown first philosophy of the endorsed candidate.

To Libertarians, small government is a core principle -- not convenient political rhetoric. Libertarians believe in live and let live with absolute minimum interference from government at any level. Libertarians believe in personal responsibility as well as personal freedom. Any government at any level that tells its citizens what they must do, has crossed the line from servant to master. Good intentions are not good excuses to misappropriate the taxpayers' money and property or to abuse their freedoms.
