>Terry Gray correspondence w/ Bob Hill on light rail and socialism

Are you crazy?  Have you been sipping the suds with Mayor Strong-arm and
Alderman Rooster?
Where did your boy, the one quoted get his information. (Sorry, I threw
up on the paper and threw it away so I don't know his name).  He thinks
that there is more favorable interest in Louisville than anywhere.  Who
did he talk to?  I haven't heard anyone yet say anything favorable toward
light rail except the politicians.  Excuse me, whenever politicians talk
positively about something, no one stands to gain a damn thing except the
politicians and the government.  Have you checked with the taxpayers?
How about the couple that make $100,000 between them and commute to St.
Mathews or Middletown or Fern Creek?  You think they want to pay $100 a
year to supply useless transportation for downtown?
No matter how you left wing democrats draw the picture and promote the
propaganda that is driving this country to ruin, we are still a
capitalist society.  Total Socialism is coming but it is still around the
corner.  It is people like you that do little research, listen to the
thieving politicians, and then promote something that you know nothing
about because you have the ear of thousands.  So what did Mayor
Strong-arm pay you?  Did he at least buy lunch?  That is small time pal.
Hook up with The Gov for some great little graft items.  Of course you'll
have to bend over, and keep bending over.

Hill’s response:

Terry,
I'm assuming since you totally reject socialism you'll not be taking your
Social Security and/or Medicare when the time comes.
     Both really bad socialist ideas.

Terry’s response:

Bob,
Look, as men and fellow journalist let's talk.  Six hundred and
three million dollars for anything is a lot of dough.  Measure it against
most damn near anything and I think you'll find that no one wants to fork
over that much money for a shallow, narrow minded, and outdated project.
To answer your question even though you didn't answer mine, I
will take whatever Social Security and Medicare that the government
decides it can afford.  I am paying for them.  The problem is that I
never should have been made to pay into them.  There is a difference
between Social Security Benefits and Social Security Tax you know.  They
are not one in the same.
The government finds it easy to grab our money and leave us
without the control that we would otherwise have over our own  welfare.
It is a power and dependency grab that revolves around money.  They use
strong arm tactics and leave us no choice.
Bob, try asking for all of the money that you have dumped into
Social Security.  Tell them that you want it all when you retire so that
you can manage it however you want.  You may have a terminal illness and
want to do some of the things that you dreamed about your whole life in
the time that you have left.  Hell, you may just want to be able to pay
your bills and buy your medicine.  These vultures just want you out of
the way and they'll pay you what they want, making sure that you pay in
far more than you ever receive before you die.
If the blood suckers want to control us and make it fair, how
about a law requiring that instead of Social Security our wages our
assessed at the same tax rate but the money is placed in the bank of our
choice in savings and IRA accounts?  When we retire we can use the money
anyway we want, just don't come to the government for any assistance.
Mind boggling isn't it?  Free trade and freedom of choice just aren't
concepts that the establishment understand.  Or do they?  Maybe they just
like having control over our money and our welfare.
Now, how about answering my previous questions, or did they make
too much whoopie in your head?

Terry,
A very close family member, 83, has been in the hospital three or four
times in past year, most recently an entire month with cancer symptoms.
She would NEVER have come close to paying those bills..but Social
Security, gap insurance and Medicare did.
Without it, she's living in pain and confusion at home. Now she has
help.
A lot of tax dollars paid by people easily able to afford it make the
difference.
What's your answer to that one??
Have you ever had an elderly relative hospitalized?
Are you gonna pay the bill?
\
I am not a freeking socialist....Nor am I am hypocrite..

        Bob,
First of all, I'm beginning to like you.  However, you
are still buying into the idea that the government owes us something.
You are right in thinking that for one reason, they held us up at
gunpoint, literally, and made us dependent upon them. They owe us because
they have what is ours.  This is no different than a bank making you put
your money in their savings yet telling you that you can only have some
of it back and only then when they tell you can have it. They are going
to give the rest to somebody else. You have to wait until you are old and
nearing death and then you might get enough to live on.
Your relative and all your family members have paid in to
social security just for the purpose of getting financial help for your
relative.  I guarantee you that had your family privately saved the money
that otherwise has gone to social security there would be no need in the
government having your relative as their charge.  There would be a lot of
money left over as well.
I have had many family members in the hospital with huge
medical bills.  The older folks in my family are Republicans or
Independents and looked out for themselves through savings, IRA's and
private insurance.  The only Social Security money that has changed hands
in a positive light for my family has been my Dad's retirement.  The rest
of the transactions with Social Security have been from our pockets to
theirs.  You see, we also pay for your sick relative.  From a humane
standpoint, I hope that our financial assistance helps with the illness
and continued life of your relative.  From a realistic standpoint, it
should have never come to that.
When I used the term Socialist in reference to you it was a broad
nomenclature. Your ideas are those of someone that the Socialist in this
country, mostly disguised as Democrats, have promoted and nurtured.  The
government under the constitution owes you protection, from domestic or
foreign enemies. They are not doing such a hot job in the foreign
department considering 911 and on the domestic front they are gently
tearing at themselves.    The politicians are the domestic enemy and they
are charged with protecting us from them.  Great system - for the
government.
Bob, I really wish you would open up your ideas from a standpoint
of right and wrong.  It is as simple as that.  I do not deny sick people
the help that they need.  I just believe that we don't have to rip off
everybody to help them.  Illness is a private matter and no concern of
the government.  The sooner we get the  government out of our pockets the
sooner we can all become healthier and happier.
