Libertarian Slate Of Candidates for Louisville Metro Mayor and Council
On Monday, August 12, at 1:00 p.m. at the Board of Elections, 810 Barret Avenue, Louisville, KY, the Libertarians will be filing a slate of candidates for Louisville Metro Mayor and Council.
Donna Mancini, the Chair of the Libertarian Party of Kentucky, and candidate for Metro Mayor, said, We want to get more people involved in the political process by offering them an alternative to the same old Democrat-Republican monopoly. If our candidates are elected, we will return the control of government to the taxpayers of Jefferson County.
The Libertarian candidates support a small, efficiently-run government that respects and protects individuals and their property. They support low taxes, individual responsibility, and minimal government interference in peoples lives, and they oppose special treatment for any individual, business, or group. The recent activities of the Libertarians of Jefferson County have included active opposition to a tax-funded arena and to a tax-funded light rail project. The Libertarians believe that such projects should only be undertaken through the voluntary actions of private businesses, not through taxes. The Jefferson County Libertarians also have been active in opposing Vehicle Emissions Testing (VET) in Jefferson County, arguing that vehicle emissions testing does little or nothing to clean the air and is unduly burdensome to residents.
The Libertarian candidates who will be filing on Monday include:
Donna Walker Mancini Metro Mayor Rick Hogue District 2 Peter McGrath District 6 George Dick District 9 Nick Karem District 11 Claude Bohn District 14 Chris Hobach District 17 Sam Cox District 18 George Baumler District 20 Terry Gray District 21 Tony Kuebler District 22 Mike Waddell District 23
