Where Are We Headed?

After WWI, the German people set up a democracy and never dreamed it could be done away with until the Reichstag was blown up. They then lost their freedoms when the government had to implement draconian measures to "protect the homeland." They said it couldn't happen to them, just as we here in America say it can't happen here, because we live in a "democracy."

This is the first mistake we Americans make -- believing the big lie about a "democracy." We are supposed to be living in a "Republic." A democracy is equivalent to two wolves and a sheep voting on what to have for dinner! But then, like the German people, we wish to give away our rights for a little perceived "security" to protect the "homeland." One thing we need to remember, Germany is only one of many, many counties and/or empires where this same thing has happened time after time.  I use Germany just as an example, as it is the most recent in our memories. Many of our citizens alive today lived under this regime and remember! They tell me there is nowhere else to go now and they are scared. So am I!

    This kind of wimpy crap reminds me of two old sayings, one from the Bible and the other from history itself:

Ecclesiastes 1:9, The thing which has been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. In other words the second saying that history has taught us comes to mind, "History repeats itself."

    Both very true, and we are seeing history repeat itself today. Some of us citizens see what can or will happen, while others are too scared or don't care. Many of us wonder why others can't see what is happening, but then all we need to do is go back to the Bible. Daniel 12:10, ...but the wicked shall do wickedly: and none of the wicked shall understand; but the wise shall understand.

I don't claim to be wise, but I sure do understand that once you give up your freedoms you do not have them given back to you by some caring, loving government. This has not happened throughout history. It has required rebellion of one kind or another after years and years of human suffering. History teaches this, and, as the Bible teaches, there is nothing new under the sun. As history and the Bible teach, we humans keep making the same mistakes over and over.

    What is so frustrating to me is that I have to live through the time when my America is doing what other nations have done over and over. We are now giving up our freedoms WILLINGLY for alleged security. Our brainstorming president comes from the party that has in the past been in support of freedom. This party has become known to protect our Constitutional rights including the Second Amendment which the Democratic Party has been so adamant in destroying.

    Today, we see the Democrats defending our rights, while it is the trusted Republicans that are taking our rights away. There truly is nothing new under the sun, and history certainly does repeat itself. President Bush has destroyed more individual rights in 18 months than his Democratic predecessor did in 8 long years.

   If Al Gore had been elected, he could not have gotten the legislation passed, nor would he even have proposed what Bush proposes. Why not? Simple, we the people do not trust Gore but do Bush just as the German people trusted Hitler.

    I just finished reading several articles on what Bush is proposing, and it makes me sick. He wishes to do away with some of the Constitutional oversight Congress has over various agencies. He wants to do away with restrictions on the military serving as law enforcement on our very own streets. Perhaps, Bush likes the way it is in Mexico. If you've never been there, GO. You can see the military on the street corners with their rifles on their shoulders watching everyone and everything. You can watch them check and/or harrass the people at will. Do you really believe that this will not happen here? If it doesn't, then history will not be repeating itself and there will then be something new under the sun! 

    The news this morning was explaining how a group of high school graduates in Philadelphia was leaving for camp to learn how to participate in a new homeland security program, and they will even have uniforms. Wow, what a coincidence, Hitler had his youth corps too. Remember the Brown Shirts, or did your public school forget to teach you about that?

    Bush wants a TIPS program as well as other programs for everyone to spy on each other. So did Hitler. Remember the SS?

    I can't wonder how long it will be before those elected officials and citizens that stand up for what America has been known for will become as the Jews in Germany? Surely you haven't forgotten about that! They were put in camps, for national security, of course! Will we who stand against wickedness have our doors kicked in during the night and be dragged off, scaring the neighbors and relatives into submission? If it doesn't happen, then there will be something new under the sun, as history will not repeat itself.

    The average Joe on the street is too occupied with life, scared of government agents, and seriously afraid of terrorism to see what is happening. People are too busy or afraid to get involved, while others do not believe it can happen here. The majority even trust Bush to do what is right, as the Germans did Hitler. I am not saying Bush is trying to become a dictator. I am saying that, if people do not stand up against what is happening, circumstances will lead to a dictator. It could even be that the 2004 elections will be won by one party. One party in control of Congress and the White House. THEN WHAT COULD HAPPEN? Doesn't it bother you that the stage is being set for history to repeat itself with a nation so far technologically advanced over most others that billions of people could live only by the graciousness of this nation?
