EAST END CANDIDATE IS AGAINST

 THE VET AND TAX FUNDED ARENA

In late April I sent e-mail to all nine candidates for Metro Council, District 16, and ask the following two questions,

Are you for or against returning the VET after it expires in Nov. 2002 if it is determined that the local air quality falls below EPA standards?

Are you for or against a downtown arena funded in part or in whole with taxpayer money in hopes of obtaining a NBA team to use it?

Now, two weeks later, I have received responses from only 3 candidates.

One candidate was FOR the arena using taxpayer money but no comment on the VET.

Another candidate was SOMEWHAT AGAINST the arena with taxpayer money and no comment on the VET.

Candidate Don Harris was AGAINST the VET returning and AGAINST an arena funded by taxpayers.

I like Don Harris’ answers.  He will get my wife’s vote and mine.
