Candidate Survey - Louisville Metro Candidates If You Really Want To Help Poor People, Stop Soaking The Rich By Theresa Fritz Camoriano The use of “progressive” tax rates to “redistribute the wealth” from the wealthy to the poor was one of Karl Marx’s many ideas for remaking society. It certainly has become popular and is in full effect in the United States today. In fact, based on 1999 figures, the top 5% of income earners paid 55% of the taxes, and the top 1% paid over one-third of the taxes, while the bottom half of income earners only paid 4% of the taxes. Kentucky Deserves Moore By Greg Holmes Speaking to the April 11 meeting of the Jefferson County Party, Kentucky State Senator Virgil Moore voiced his strong belief in limited government and individual freedom. Moore, who has represented five West Kentucky counties of Breckinridge, Grayson, Hart, Meade, and Ohio in the Fifth Senatorial District since 1992, is one of only five Kentucky state senators who are members of the Liberty Caucus, an organization within the Republican Party that works to promote libertarian principles. Ode To The Bureaucrats (to the tune of Sixteen Tons) American citizens are still “free” to become VOLUNTARY slaves! By Claude Bohn Ahh! April 15th - and the annual deadline for filing your “income” tax “return,” and paying your “fair share” – is upon us, once again! Don’t it make you feel great? What a great country this is, where millions of people each year, “volunteer” to pay a tax they don’t owe! Kinda brings a tear to your eye, don’t it? I hope I get some money back this year; I’ve been wanting to buy a flag for my car antenna.

by George Baumler Paris in the Springtime with a Fistful of Euros: A Record of the Libertarian International Spring Convention, Paris, 5-8th April 2002 by Sean Gabb Last November, I attended the Libertarian International autumn convention in Prague (for a record of this, see Free Life Commentary issue 58). This was a good event, as anyone attending or reading about it will agree. Perhaps most important, however, was a series of private conversations that has now resulted in a close and formal affiliation between the Libertarian Alliance and the Libertarian International.
