Time For Honesty About The VET By George C. Baumler It's time for a little honesty concerning the VET program. Number one the VET doesn't reduce pollution any more than a bathroom scale causes weight-loss or mirrors cause the aesthetically challenged to become appealing. Like a thermometer used for measuring temperature, the VET only measures output emissions; it in no way curtails them to the extent that proponents claim. It would be the same as saying a thermometer cures fevers -- " folks, it just ain’t so." It’s All About Respect (Will They Police The Obese?) By Theresa Fritz Camoriano Treating people with respect is one of the cornerstones of our civilization. And most of us do a pretty good job of it in our normal, everyday lives. We may disapprove of the choices other people make in their lives, but we respect their right to make mistakes and to suffer the consequences. If someone we care about wastes money, is promiscuous, or engages in other behavior we think is unhealthy or unwise, we might try to persuade him to act differently, but we do not get out our guns and force him to do what we think is best. This tolerant, respectful approach has, in the past, been summarized very well by school children who responded to playground bullies with phrases such as "Mind your own business", or "It's a free country; you can't make me!" Minimum Wage… Labor of Love? by Guillermo Camoriano Our society frequently debates the merits of the minimum wage. Many people feel strongly that a “living wage” is imperative and in fact is owed to the worker so that he or she may have “self worth” and “respect”. In this article, we consider the issue of the minimum wage and let you decide which alternative really addresses the issues of a living wage, self worth, and respect, especially for those individuals the minimum wage laws are “intended” to help. The Solution to Poverty by Jacob G. Hornberger I have great news for you! According to today's Washington Post (March 22), world leaders meeting at a U.N. conference in Monterrey, Mexico, have come up with a new plan for ridding the world of poverty. The plan involves the U.S. government's sending of foreign aid to the governments of Third World countries. Now why didn't someone think of that before? How Does Testing Cars Make The Air Cleaner? By Donna Walker Mancini Chairman, Libertarian Party of Kentucky Day by day, the Courier-Journal insults and criticizes the local citizens who have the courage and intelligence to want to END the fraudulent VET scam, that basically denies all truth and logic concerning Air Pollution. Common Sense dictates that WE BREATHE the Same air you do! We “VET HATERS” seem to be the ONLY people who really want to clean the AIR!!! JERRY ABRAMSON’S EYES AND EARS by Woody Oakes In the past month or so I have twice emailed Jerry Abramson’s campaign headquarters, trying to elicit his stand on the VET. Finding Terroristan - Mythical country, mythical war, mythical “leader” By Ed Lewis It is possible that readers are tired of reading the opening statements of this essay. However, in the event of new readers, it is deemed necessary. Also, lending to this decision is that the federal government continues to act as if it does NOT know there is a Constitution.

George W. Bush had a plan -- just like every other blowhard who's occupied the White House since Calvin Coolidge. Never mind that this is a free country. Freedom means that people are, you know, free. And, if we're free to do what we want, why does government always have a plan for us?
