In Defense of Louisville's Barbara Gregg   by Pat Pending The C-J has gone into full-scale attack mode against Alderman Barbara Gregg, because she spent $500 of taxpayer money for a questionnaire to be mailed outside of her district to ask people in the county whether they wanted her to vote for an NBA arena.

Clearing the air on clean air (the VET)   By Guillermo Camoriano  What is the big issue with eliminating the VET (Vehicle Emissions Testing Program)?  Why try to eliminate a program that is supposed to be helping us clean our air?  The answer is simply because the VET is in fact fouling our air instead of cleaning it.  Let me explain why this is so.

Critics Attack Bush For Imposing Import Duties on Steel   by Pat Pending    It has been interesting to see both liberals and conservatives attacking President Bush's recent decision to impose import duties on steel to protect steel-workers' jobs.  Critics from all directions point out that Bush's actions are contrary to his avowed free market principles and harmful to American workers.  They are correct, of course.  The president has sold out his principles and the best interests of the country in an attempt to obtain votes in the steel industry states, which he needs for reelection.  Virtually everyone understands and accepts the fact that every American steel-worker's job that is protected by these import duties will cost many other Americans their jobs.

Left/right – conservative/liberal – does it matter?   By Ed Lewis   This question is asked because these concepts are defined as circumstances and the times define them.  All result in subjective muddying of the waters.

is incorrectly accepted as just, any notion of restraining government
power and safeguarding individual liberty and property is illusory." -
