Dear
Alderman Magre -
Thank
you very much for helping put the brakes on the plan to put taxpayer
money at risk to finance an NBA arena. It is not the proper role of
government to force the taxpayers to finance corporate welfare.
Also, it would harm the local economy.
If
people want to bring in an NBA team, and if they think the local economy
will support the project, then they should risk their own money to
build an arena. That's how things are supposed to work in a
free market, capitalist system. I think my business of helping
inventors protect their inventions benefits the local economy, but I have
not asked the city to build me an office. This situation is no
different in principle -- just bigger.
I
am very glad you have taken a stand against the project. Thank you.
