Bush Goes AWOL in Battles With
Domestic Evil-Doers
by Randy
Barker
I don't get it. Bush can wage war against Usama bin Laden in Afghanistan.
And openly help defeat former Sandinista communist, and Democrat darling,
Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua's latest presidential election, despite a
disapproving election monitor in Jimmy Carter. But he can't seem to bring
himself to lift a finger against the real long-term threat to this country
and our way of life, Evil-Doer Democrats.
Take the Republican defeats in New Jersey and Virginia. These situations
were much like that in Nicaragua. Daniel Ortega, the communist the
Democrat party wanted to send Ronald Reagan to jail for opposing, was
recently running for Nicaraguan president on a "peace and love"
program, claiming he had changed his ways and now believes in democracy
and free enterprise. To get elected, Democrat gubernatorial candidates in
New Jersey and Virginia were claiming much the same thing. Long-term tax
and spender James McGreevey, the new Democrat governor of New Jersey,
promised not to raise taxes, but refused to sign an anti-tax pledge from
Americans for Tax Reform. And in Virginia, Governor-elect Mark Warner
claimed he was not for a sales tax hike--he just wanted the voters to have
a chance to consider one--and said he would cut the property tax on cars.
Should these Democrats be believed ? No way ! Should George Bush have at
least sent Jeb Bush into New Jersey and Virginia like he enlisted him to
defeat Ortega in Nicaragua ? You bet! This garbage about being bipartisan
during a national crisis is about as ridiculous as trying to make friends
with the real Great Satan, Tom Daschle !
Speaking of the Devil, Bush needs to take off the gloves with the little
Class Warfare Weasel from South Dakota. He needs to get down and fight
dirty with Demi-Demagogue Daschle to get a economic stimulus package
that's actually a stimulus package, and not a socialist grab bag. He also
needs to point out to the American people that Daschle is sabotaging a
coherent energy policy for America by stalling the Administration's energy
bill, one he knows would pass if it reached the Senate floor. Bush
desperately needs to do recess appointments for the hundred federal judges
Daschle refuses to approve to fill the critical need in our justice
system. And he needs to start the battle now for an adequate defense bill.
The Democrats, as Senator Byrd of West Virginia has threatened, may hold
it hostage to coerce more pork barrel spending.
Despite his quiet demeanor, Daschle is the nastiest, most partisan man in
Washington. He will do anything to avoid giving a perceived victory to
George Bush, even if it puts America at a disadvantage. Bush needs to go
to war and stop squandering his popularity. He needs to drop the political
equivalent of a Daisy Cutter on Daschle. He's capable of it. He already
dropped one on Daniel Ortega in Nicaragua.
It's time to fight, Mr. President. Let's Roll!
