An
American's American
"Chuck, I just read your Muth's Truths ("Stop the Whining")
and just want to
say I agree with you. I am Black and proud to say fourth generation
Republican. I too am tired of the whining, complaining and laying blame.
My parents and grandparents taught me right from wrong, assured me that
all in life is not fair and that I can achieve anything I set my mind and
heart to do. I have worked since I was 11 years old starting with a paper
route and cleaning up trash from a parking lot to my present job with
Shelby County Bank. I have a college degree and courses toward my post
graduate degree.
"I served on my local school board for 8 years and was an elected
City Councilman for 4 years. I simply want you to know that all Blacks or
African Americans are not whining and laying all the blame on white males.
Please don't judge us all by the media interpretations or the ravings of a
few so called black leaders. Jesse nor Al speak for me. I speak for myself
and thank the Creator each day for the freedoms we have in this country.
Keep up the great work and I look forward each day to reading your news
and views email."
- James E. Garrett, Jr., Community Reinvestment Act Director, Shelby
County Bank

Major Democrat Intra-Party Fight Breaks Out
"More and more, our Democratic (DNC) chairman, Terry McAuliffe,
reminds me of a subpar golfer desperately in need of a mulligan. The
strength of our party has always been our big tent, but lately our
chairman seems to be shrinking that tent to the size of one of those
snow-cone cups turned upside down. Well, maybe a little bigger than that,
say, a dunce cap. "...Now he labels Liddy Dole a 'carpetbagger'? How
Hillaryous can you get? Down South, even if we vote against them, we are
gracious to women of we suffer the consequences. . Many people whom I
respect tell me that Mr. McAuliffe is a good man. I'm sure he is. But
every time he speaks, it still sounds to me like fingernails across a
blackboard. And he's making more and more moderates see red - the color
that dominated that 200 election map."
- Democrat Sen. Zell Miller of Georgia in a Washington Post
letter-to-the-editor this week
