--Let's
Make the Tax Cuts Permanent!--
With rebate checks in the mail and more tax cuts coming in the next few
years, Americans would be disappointed to learn that the relief they've
earned will come to an abrupt end within a decade. NTU is working to make
the Bush tax cuts permanent. NTU has endorsed legislation in the House and
has urged Senators to support a proposal by Texas Senator Phil Gramm to
ensure that the recent tax breaks don't expire in 2011.

--Bush Should Push for BRAC--
President Bush has proposed another Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC)
Commission to meet urgent military needs without breaking taxpayers'

--Tar Heel Tax Revolt--
North Carolina has joined a growing number of states whose political
establishments have been shaken by a familiar form of political activism
with a new face: a tax protest rally. Normally a tactic reserved to
left-wingers who live off big government, citizen demonstrations are now
becoming more popular with those who pay for big government.
On July 30, taxpayers from all over the Tar Heel State converged on the
Capitol Building in Raleigh to voice their disapproval over a proposed
2-year, $1 billion state and local tax hike. For more information and

--Election Reform Efforts--
A Presidential commission and numerous pieces of Congressional legislation
all claim to have the solutions to America's "election crisis."
Yet, a recent study by NTUF finds that these "solutions" won't
fix the fundamental
flaws in the election process. Before you read the Ford-Carter
Commission's
report, read NTUF Policy Paper 134
