Dear editor:
Regarding the letter to the editor in the Aug. 6, 2001 edition of the
JeffersonReview.com, from Louis Looney (Louis De-Colores) concerning a
previous editorial regarding "nude adult entertainment": The
writer states, "We Christians have a right to not want OUR city to be
another Sodom & Gommorrah." (emphasis mine) I
would agree! IF it were indeed YOUR city. But may I remind the writer
that, this city is not the exclusive home or possession of Christians
alone. There are, as in any community, many diverse people who inhabit
Louisville. SOME of them, religious and non-religious alike, see
absolutely nothing wrong with folks who want to provide this type of
entertainment getting together with those who want to see this type of
entertainment and doing so. No one is being FORCED to either provide the
"entertainment" nor to view it. Since this is the case, and no
"nude entertainment" is currently taking place on any of the
"public" streets where those, like the writer and other
Christians, who do not wish to view nudity, are not exposed to it against
their will, I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. ... IF, in fact, it is
sin and an abomination to God, that is something to be settled between the
patron and his/her god, is it not?... In any event, I'm SURE that any god
capable of creating the universe is fully capable of sorting out those
patrons of "adult entertainment" from the Christians and others,
and dispatching the former without burning an entire city. Mr. Looney can
rest easy and needn't stop reading the JeffersonReview; ...
