N.O.R.M.L.
Starts Chapter in Kentucky
(7-23-01)
The national organization for reform of marijuana laws (N.O.R.M.L.)
now has a new chapter in Kentucky. The chapter is currently conducting a
membership drive in Louisville. Volunteers and members are needed to
help in lobbying efforts to change laws that continue to persecute
otherwise law abiding citizens.
Norml does not encourage drug use. We are only concerned with changing
laws that serve no purpose, other than to incarcerate thousands of
Kentuckians each year, while doing very little to educate and rehabilitate
problem users.
N.O.R.M.L has been successful in legalizing medical marijuana in 8
states and is currently making progress in many more. California
recently has changed its focus from incarceration to treatment concerning
drug use, and it's time we did the same. Another issue Norml addresses is
industrial hemp. This should be of great concern to Kentucky
residents since hemp used to be Kentucky's #1 cash crop. With failing
tobacco farms threatening to be swallowed up by urban development, now is
the time for us to make a stand!
Currently the U.S. Libertarian Party is considering making opposition to
the drug war a signature issue. Please show your support to the
Libertarian Party as well as Norml by getting involved today. Norml needs
dedicated individuals who are comfortable contacting elected officials,
writing letters to news organizations, and helping inform the general
public of the false information the government continues to disseminate
concerning their war on drugs.
