Commentary on Light Rail

I am very interested in the Light rail issue, as you well know. This is such a horrendous waste of the taxpayers money it is unbelievable.

Get rid of the monopolies on transportation, and maybe I can get a good Limousine driver to pick me up and drive me around the town ....... I will gladly surrender my 95 Cirrus and all the problems that go with it for a more hassle free life !!!!  As I type, we are preparing to take my car to the dealership as the “check engine” light has been coming on all week.

However, you won't find me driving to a parking lot, standing around waiting for trains in all sorts of weather, hauling 20 pounds of junk in a purse and briefcase, and juggling my coffee with my teeth......... no music tapes, no talk radio, for the sake of riding to downtown Louisville, that takes me only 20 minutes to get to by car from practically anywhere in Louisville.  It would take at least an hour or more to go by rail, and that is if connections are good.  Commuting is not my idea of a fun or an efficient use of time.  As far as work is concerned , to get from Owl creek, off Shelbyville Road where I live, to take public transportation to work in South Louisville, I would have to walk 1.5 miles from my house on Dorsey Lane ( a winding 2 lane road without sidewalks...... Immediate death) to Shelbyville Road, wait for a bus that would transfer a couple of times and take me to town and out to the south end, where I would then walk another half mile, in the elements, carrying my junk, etc, etc.  It would take all day to get there!!!  I am talking most people, NOT JUST ME , are in the same situation.  They would not give up their cars, and save big bucks on car expenses like you can in Chicago or New York.

The Government officials and leaders need to quit coming up with all these ridiculous ways to waste our tax money, control us, and funnel bucks to their friends and supporters!!!!

Why can't they just fix potholes and street lights, build new roads, direct traffic, you know....the basic stuff and leave us alone to enjoy Life???

Let people who want work find it in an honorable way through taxies and van service. It is so simple.  Free Markets, Economics 101, supply and demand.
