GOP Group's New "Liberty Compact" Will Separate the RINOs From the Elephants

(Washington, DC) - Chuck Muth,
Chairman of the Republican Liberty Caucus (RLC), announced today the creation of "The Liberty Compact" ... a tool to help separate the RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) from pro-liberty/limited government Republican
elected officials and candidates at the
national, state and local level.

The Liberty Compact is a written
pledge inspired by the words of the late
Sen. Barry Goldwater (R-AZ) in his
book, "Conscience of a Conservative," which promotes the belief that government isn't the solution, but all too often, the problem.  The pledge reads as follows:

"I, (insert name), pledge to the
citizens of the State of (insert state) and
to the American people, that as their
elected representative I will work to:
Restore liberty, not restrict it; shrink
government, not expand it; reduce taxes, not raise them; abolish programs, not create them; promote the freedom and independence of citizens, not the interference of government in their lives; and observe the limited, enumerated powers of our Constitution, not ignore them."

Muth said he expects the Liberty
Compact will make big-government Republicans very uneasy and hopes to use the document to "smoke out" Republicans who aren't truly committed to the GOP's core ideology.  He also said signers would be given preferential consideration for RLC support and financial assistance in GOP primaries.

The RLC chose Independence Day to
announce the Liberty Compact, said Muth, because too many Americans have forgotten the true significance of the 4th of July and the Declaration of Independence.

"Sadly, all too many Americans and
elected representatives ... including a
disturbing number of Republicans ... have
forgotten what the proper role of government is as originally envisioned in 1776 by our Founding Fathers," said Muth.  "We intend to use the Liberty Compact to remind them.  We'll use, promote and publicize it throughout election campaigns in the future
as a tool to not only help elect more
Republicans, but better ones, as well."
