--NTUF Analyzes Senator Jeffords' Fiscal Record--

(Alexandria, VA) -- While a heavily publicized press conference provided Vermont Senator James Jeffords an opportunity to claim that the Republican party has been too conservative for him, a new study by the 335,000-member National Taxpayers Union Foundation (NTUF) shows that Senator Jeffords has never had much in common with his Republican colleagues.

"Senator Jeffords has always had a more costly agenda than his Republican colleagues, and in three of the last four Congresses has supported more spending than the average Democratic Senator," observed NTUF Senior Policy Analyst Tom McClusky.
