Kentucky's War On Drugs Nets A
Deputy Sheriff
The Paducah
Sun has recently reported that the Calloway County Deputy Sheriff, Max Parrish,
has been arrested after an FBI investigation.
He has been accused of manufacturing, distributing, and possessing
a controlled substance. A
witness who apparently triggered the FBI investigation tells stories of
sex, drugs, and evidence tampering involving Deputy Sheriff Parrish.
Parrish reportedly has admitted that he sold an ounce of
methamphetamine.
What has not
been widely reported is that Parrish apparently was in charge of drug
enforcement in the area. Has
he admitted to a minor offense in order to sweep widespread corruption
under the rug?
This
situation raises many questions concerning abuse of power and the real
effect of the drug war.
