--Milton Friedman Pens Letter Urging Repeal of Death Tax--

(Washington, DC) -- As a small band of ultra-wealthy individuals and groups supporting higher government spending continued to beat the drum for keeping the controversial federal estate tax in place, an open letter released by the non-partisan National Taxpayers Union Foundation (NTUF) confirms that a much wider consensus in the economic community marches to a different tune. So far, a total of 278 economists from academic and policy institutions across the country have cosigned a letter written by Nobel Laureate Milton Friedman that concludes "death should not be a taxable event" and that "the estate tax should be repealed."
