Thoughts on The Shooting Down of a
Missionary Plane Over Peru
The
shooting down of the innocent missionary family over Peru makes it very
clear that the so-called "war on drugs" is really a war on
people. Some people will choose to destroy their lives with drugs whether
they are legal or not, just as people now choose to destroy their lives
with alcohol and tobacco. But the war on drugs also harms many innocents
who would not have been harmed by the drugs alone. The war on drugs brings
"no-knock" raids on innocent people's homes in the middle of the
night. It brings asset forfeiture, in which police can legally steal
innocent people's property. It also brings drive-by shootings and the
corruption of young people and law enforcement personnel. Didn't we
already learn during prohibition that you can't protect people from
themselves? How many more innocent people will have to die before we learn
that lesson again?

Drug war death toll
by Llewellyn H. Rockwell, Jr.
"Give it up, drug warriors. You will never stop the production and
consumption of [any] substance that people want to grow and repackage for
others who want to
buy. The attempt to do so vastly increases the price and thereby benefits
some producers at the expense of
others, breeds crime and corruption in public agencies, and violates
people's civil liberties." http://www.lewrockwell.com/rockwell/d

The downing of a civilian plane full transporting a missionary family
demonstrates that the war on drugs is all about using deadly force against
civilians.
