The recent murders at Santana High School in Santee CA leave Cathy
Cuthbert asking of government schools, "What About
Socialization?"

Marshall Fritz and Ray Moore wrote "Satan Has No Brakes" to
highlight for Protestant ministers the public school flaws leading to the
Columbine murders. They believe the same flaws apply to the
Santana High murders.

David Kopel writes in "Sure, Blame the Gun": "Upon hearing
the shots at Santana High School, one student grabbed a still camera and
another grabbed a video camera to record the carnage. No one tried to
tackle the killer during his three reloading breaks. Is it because the
national media failed to tell the story of the heroic high-school student
who tackled the killer in Springfield, Oregon, while the killer was
reloading?"

Monday, March 19, is not only the day the swallows return to San Juan
Capistrano. It is the 5th anniversary of the forced genital examinations
done to 60 6th grade girls at the J.T. Lambert Intermediate School in East
Stroudsburg PA. Marshall Fritz describes the "real horror" after
his visit on the first anniversary.

March 25 marks another anniversary, the first for the Fistgate Scandal. On
that day one year ago, Massachusetts Department of Education employees
instructed a group of teens on the joys of homosexuality at a
state-sponsored conference. Brian Camenker and Scott Whiteman broke the
story on this "Teach Out" for The Massachusetts News, an
alternative newspaper with an extensive archive on the scandal. Read
Suzanne McDuffie's summary on the Concerned Women for America website.

FINAL THOUGHT
Q. What would you say to someone who says, "[Homeschooling] is a good
idea, but why don't you try to work within the system and reform it
because it's in such a great need of change?"
A. I've lived in Boston for 26 years. I've been known for at least 20 of
those as an education reformer of some kind.... Nobody in all of these
commissions that have been--I mean, there have been a half a dozen great,
big commissions--nobody ever called me up on the phone and said,
"John, what do you think about this?" If they had, I would have
answered.... I don't know how to make input into that system.... I'll talk
to anybody who will listen. But they're not interested in listening.
Meanwhile, the school is a burning building and I'm going to help to
escape any children that I can.
--John Holt, 1923-1985. From a 1983 interview published in Homesteaders
News.
