CHAPTER 8

"And so, we jumped into the escape pods and blasted out of there!" Kethlain said enthusiastically to the wide-eyed crowd. They had eventually found Quandoia, and landed on the roof of the water lounge, much to the dismay of the teachers.

          "Hello, Kethlain, Natilinia, Cooladroid."

"What?" Kethlain said, looking down at the metal face of 10wA.

"It is requested by Mama Wominoz that you report to your cabins immediately."

          "Oh...ok. I'll get Jao."

Kethlain and Jao slowly walked down the forest path, soon met by Natilinia and her little Inower, Clapi.  Kethlain entered his cabin. "See ya later." he said. "Gotta work on my Atmology project."

"Kethlain, I finished that three weeks ago!" Natilinia said.

"Litt, litt!" Clapi agreed. Kethlain smiled sheepishly, waved and then closed the door.

Jao looked around.  His eyes fell upon a tiny woan flower, still changing colors every five seconds. He started humming the tune of Mellia's song, without realizing it. His voice cracked.  Clapi rubbed against him.  Jao stroked her fine, soft fur. The little Inower purred.

He slowly looked up at Natilinia. " It won't ever be the same around here, will it?"

"No." Natilinia said quietly, putting her blue, webbed hand gently on his shoulder. "It won't ever be the same."
