How Did Tom Daschle Know How Much A BMW Muffler
Costs?
by Randy
Barker
It looks like we're really going to get a tax cut. They're just arguing
about how much. Democrat Tom Daschle of North Dakota says that under
Bush's plan people who earn a million a year are going to save enough to
buy another Lexus. And that the average wage earner is going to save only
enough to buy a muffler. What Daschle fails to point out is that even if
the top tax rate is reduced the 6 % Bush wants, a millionaire will still
pay about $330,000 on his 1040 EZ. And that instead of buying a Japanese
Lexus as Daschle suggests, he could patriotically use his savings to hire
some other chicken-necked geek from
North Dakota to be his own personal demagogue, creating a new taxpayer
and helping out our struggling economy. Plus, if Bush's math isn't
fuzzy, the average family will save $1,600. That's much more that it costs
to buy a muffler unless
you're talking about a muffler for a BMW (I know) or for the
limousine of a Senate Minority Leader.
Democrats like Daschle are funny people. As Peggy Noonan wrote in the Wall
Street Journal, Democrats got mad at Clinton's pardoning of Marc
Rich, but not when "he
gave China military technology in return for cash". [There's a word
for that. It begins with T.] Peggy could have mentioned that
Democrats were also non-mad
when allegations of perjury, obstruction of justice, fraud, sexual
harassment, rape and worse came up. Maybe now that he's out of office they
feel free to speak out because they're no longer afraid of winding up in Battery Park or on the side of a mountain in the Balkans.
When you refuse to convict
people like Clinton, you encourage them to continue to do things like
steal furniture from public housing (i.e.
the White House). The Democrats and gutless Senate Republicans have
created Another O.J. Wonder if Clinton knows, as Arlen Specter has noted,
that he can be impeached again ?
Democrat loyalty to Clinton has always been a mystery. In his eight-year
reign, the Democrats lost the Senate, the House, governorships and state
legislatures, and finally the Presidency. He even helped kill the
re-election of his
hand-picked ticket to a Nobel Peace Prize, Ehud Barak. The Neville Chamberlain of the Middle East didn't stand a chance after
following Clinton's policy of appeasement.
But the most
interesting thing that happened last week was not about
taxes, Ariel Sharon's
election or quid pro cash. It was Larry King's interview of
former White House staffer Linda Tripp. In that conversation she
indicated Janet Reno wasn't
the catalyst for the inferno at Waco. She said Hillary Clinton pressured
Vince Foster and Webb Hubbell to get Reno to order the assault. For some
reason, Clinton buddy Larry King had no follow-up question.
