CHAPTER 5
"Where are
we?" Kethlain said, rubbing his sore head. They were in separate
stone rooms, each with a small bed and no windows or other exits. They
could hear each other barely, but could not tell where they were.
" We're
trapped in some kind of dungeon!"
Natilinia said.
"Well, I
can see that." Jao replied coldly. "Wait.....what's that?"
A faint voice was flowing into the room, singing:
"Swim like a fastfin,
Run like a chay,
Hair like a leera
As tiny as upay.
"
"Pitiful." said Kethlain.
"Beautiful." said Natilinia.
"I'll try to talk to it." Jao said. "Hello?"
Jao said, leaned against the wall. "Can you tell us where we
are?"
"Hello. Pardon my singing."
"It's very
pretty. Can you tell us where we are?"
" You are in the dungeons of MURTH,
They will collect your ransom then get rid of you,
Most likely."
"Thank
you, very consoling."
"Oh hush,
Kethlain, she's trying to help!" Natilinia snapped.
"Well, I'm
Jao, and my friends are Natilinia and Kethlain. Is there a way out of this
place?"
"The only
time the steel doors are opened
is to give us
the bread and the water we eat."
"Well, how
would we go about getting out?!"
"I have
been trying to jam the doors
but
there is no way out."
Then, the voice
came again. "But if any of you were not frisked, and have a laser on
you.."
Jao blinked in the darkness, but was able to see a small laser
installed in his arm.
"I have
one, but it's pretty small."
"When we
get our food, I can slip my necklace out to you, and you can use the glass
star on it to magnify your laser."
"Of course!" Jao said. There was no reply. "Nothing
left to say, I suppose." Jao thought.
"Thank
goodness!" Kethlain said. "She was getting annoying."
"Geez,
Kethlain, how can you be so brainless? She could save our lives!"
"Or kill
us."
" Kethlain,
how else do you expect to get out of here?!" Kethlain looked around
his pitch black room, and realized she was right.
"When do
they give us our food?"
"
Patience, Kethlain, it will not be long."
"What's
your name anyway?"
" My name
is Mellia, child of the Berinos,
I have been
captured for over a week now."
" Nice.
Veery nice." Kethlain said, rolling his eyes.
Rarenfo,
We regret to inform you that we have kidnapped you students. The
Quandoian, the Zinioo and the
Human will go without a scratch......for a price. Pay the ransom noted in
one day, or watch your wretched children
die in agony! Pay the price, Rarenfo. Pay the price.

"No! It..
It can't be!" Mama thought in horror as she read the ransom note. The
frantic search going on around her didn’t help the chaotic, frightened
atmosphere. "Sister, What has happened to you?!" Mama thought as
slowly tears began to trickle down her face.
