Copy
of letter from Claude Bohn to The C-J concerning its editorial on VET
testing
I could
hardly contain my laughter as I considered the irony of your lead
editorial for Feb. 2: "The judge and the VET." Imagine! The
"progressive" defenders of the status quo, those statist
apologists for
the "extreme" Left at the Courier-Journal appealing to (gasp,
horrors!) Republican Judge Executive, Rebecca Jackson, to assist in the
battle against the evil and misguided Senator Dan Seum and those other
anti-government wackos at Stop the VET, and their efforts to relieve the
public of an outdated, costly, non-productive, and punitive emissions
test. (Please excuse me while I laugh out loud.) No one, not even
libertarians and other anti-government illiterates,
want to breath dirty air; however, it should be obvious by now, even to
the anointed at Pravda on the Ohio, that, an emissions test that 90% pass
is accomplishing very little in the way of clean air. Rather, the arch
enemy of these neo-Luddittes - technology, opposed mainly because the
bulk of it is done by big corporations and (gasp) the rich - is nearly
solely responsible for the improvement in our air quality. I commend the
efforts of these enlightened and truly progressive
thinkers - like Sen. Seum and the good folks at Stop the VET - for their
efforts, in spite of the rancorous opposition and slander from the likes
of the C-J editorial staff, to relieve us of this government imposed and
antiquated boondoggle. Such honesty and integrity in a public official is
a breath of fresh air.
